Assistant Dean for Academic AffairsDr. Douglas Bailey, Head of the Department of Horticulture, will join the Office of Academic Affairs next semester as Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs. Starting January 1, 2018, Dr. Bailey will take on his new role in academic program development, student recruitment, retention and enrichment, and in learning assessment. Dr. Bailey received his Bachelor's degree in Horticulture from the University of Georgia and his Masters and PhD degrees in Horticulture from Purdue University.

CAES Director of Policy, Government and Corporate AffairsRachel McLocklin Santos, a CAES alumnus and former UGA Ag Fellow, will serve as the College’s Director of Policy, Government and Corporate Affairs. Since receiving her BS degree in Agricultural and Applied Economics and a minor in Environmental Law from UGA, she has worked in various capacities in Washington, DC.

Her positions in DC included: 1) Professional Staff for the Senate Committee on Appropriations, Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration and Related Agencies. In this role she maintained oversight authority and discretionary budget authority for several agencies within USDA and drafted the annual appropriations bill that allocated over $20 billion in discretionary funds. 2) Legislative Assistant for Senators Perdue and Chambliss. She managed a portfolio of issues including: agriculture, conservation, nutrition, forestry, and rural development. 3) Executive Assistant to the US Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry for Ranking Member Chambliss.

Updated Extension website — The UGA Extension website recently received a mostly aesthetic update. There is a new section of the site devoted to our standard programs and services accessible from the site's main navigation. We hope that publishing this information increases awareness of how Extension can help producers, consumers and professionals. We welcome your feedback!
